The Difference Between Residential And Industrial Design

Do you require industrial design services for your workplace or development project, but have no idea where to find them? Many people who find themselves in this position make the mistake of hiring someone who is experienced in residential design to tackle the project. The problem with this is that both of these fields are very different.

Residential Design

As the name suggests, this area of design deals with the facades of buildings in which people live, most notably homes. The client in these sorts of projects is often the homeowner, who will know exactly what they want and what they need to achieve with the project. There will often be very little goals outside making the space safe and comfortable.

Industrial Design

This area of design deals with the facades of more commercial buildings and places where people work, such as offices and large development projects. The client in these sorts of projects is often a company or a developer who is trying to achieve a particular a certain goal. Safety is extremely important in this area, because a number of people will use the space daily.

As you can see, both residential and industrial design have a number of differences that make it very difficult for an expert in either field to try and tackle a project in the other. If you need to put together an attractive façade for an office building, for example, you should find a professional who specializes in the industrial sector for best results.
